Sometimes the skin around your stoma can become red and irritated, especially if your skin is sensitive. Don’t worry, there are some simple steps you can take to help prevent skin irritation.

Changing your day time adhesive

The skin around your stoma can be delicate and should be treated carefully when it comes to how you remove and apply your adhesive.

When removing the adhesive use the Provox Adhesive Remover to help. Keep the wipe folded for precise application. Ensure you soak the top of your adhesive. Then use the remover wipe along the edge of the adhesive as you gently remove it.

After taking off the adhesive, clean the skin around your stoma with a Provox Cleaning Towel or oil-free soap and water.

Next, apply Provox Skin Barrier. This will provide a protective layer over your skin. Keep the wipe folded for precise application. Allow the barrier to dry before applying the day-time adhesive. Warm the adhesive between your hands before you apply it. This helps to improve adhesion.

Rest your skin at night

Provox Life Night is designed to soothe your skin and help you sleep more comfortably. It is made of hydrogel. Hydrogel is used in wound care and proven to reduce redness and skin discomfort.

When removing your daytime adhesive use the Provox Adhesive Remover to help. Keep the wipe folded for precise application. Ensure you soak the top of your adhesive. Then use the remover wipe along the edge of the adhesive as you gently remove it.

After taking off the adhesive, clean the skin around your stoma with a Provox Cleaning Towel or oil-free soap and water.

Next, let your skin dry. Do not use skin barriers, creams or moisturising soaps or wipes as this will cause the adhesive to come off. Apply the Provox Life Night adhesive.

To remove the Provox Life Night adhesive use a cloth or gauze with water to soak the adhesive off your skin. This will allow the adhesive to come away very easily.
